Brand Meeting Generates New Ideas

In late December, marketing managers at Paul Penders Co met to discuss giving the Paul Penders brand a clarifying tag name that would help consumers understand what the brand stands for.

Paul Penders cosmetics are not just cosmetics alone – there is a lot more to the brand that could be shared with the public.

The Brand Meeting started with discussion among people of eight different nationalities to find the soul of the brand. This way of working reflects exactly how the company operates – a multi-cultural, open-minded and open sharing group of individuals with a heart and passion for the brand. Everyone was eager to share their ideas of doing business and working with nature.

During an open discussion, the team came up with a new tag name:

Paul Penders
My way of life … naturally yours

Secondly, we embarked upon a very creative session in which the team was split into five groups that discussed and explored the Paul Penders Customer.

This was a very lively and inspiring session that gave us a lot of material that will be used in ads, brochures, websites and other materials over the coming year.

Lastly, we got a sneak preview of the new Paul Penders consumer website with updated features.

A few weeks from now, we will be able to share more about the website.

Running a cosmetic company with own R&D (research and development) is not always about inventing new products.

It is as much about improving existing ones – many times based on customer feed-back.

A perfect example of this is this message we have received from the leader of our R&D, Dr. Gatot, and his assistant Yvonne.

Happiness – When I’m Seventy-four…

When The Beatles sang their well-known song “When I’m sixty-four” in 1967, they could hardly have known that had they added 10 years to the title and named the song “When I’m seventy-four”, it would have been perfect for a new discovery, made by American and German scientists!

Based on a long-term British survey, the scientists have discovered that our happiness peaks at the age of 74.

Quite surprisingly, maybe, but the survey is based on 21,000 people of all ages, who were all asked to rate how happy and contended they felt on a scale of one to seven, with seven being the highest.

Teenagers rated their happiness at 5.5. This level gradually declined to 5.0 at the age of 40, before it started to rise again.

The older people got the more contended and happy they seemed to be – with the happiness factor at its highest at the age of 74, where it reached 5.9.

What has all this to do with body, skin and hair care, you might ask?

Well, this is another reason to care for your body and hair all life through. It would be a shame not to have preserved your good looks, when – still according to these scientists – you reach the maximum of your happiness at 74.

Organic Certification – The Biggest Market Players Agree with Paul Penders

A few days ago, some of the biggest companies in the US started to gather at Expo West in California, the biggest of its kind in the world.

They, the biggest cosmetic companies in the US, are as upset over the organic certification issue  as we are (see our double article last week on the blog).

There is a big urge among the companies to stop all the certification confusion, which goes right over the heads of the innocent and confused consumers.

The meeting concludes “that enough is enough!!!” The press has until now used expressions like “Chaos”, “Herding Cats”, and “Wild West”, when referring from the seminar

Exactly like CEO Paul Penders did say 3 days ago: “Please, no more confusion for the consumer.”

Talk about the ability to predict! What we said and concluded in the days up to the seminar – on this blog – was exactly the same which is now concluded by the biggest players in the marked

Whether the meeting is going to make life easier for the consumer is doubtful, though it is still going on until Monday evening.

All, the big companies seem to be able to, is to agree that something is completely wrong. Until now, they have not been able agree on anything that comes even near to a solution to the problem.
