Still 1.5 Million Dollars Available For Grabs!

We wrote before about a most amazing and admirable offer made by the Royal Society of Chemistry in England to pay $1.5Million Dollar to anyone for simply doing nothing! For sure this offer must have been noticed by cosmetic giants such as Estee Lauder, Shiseido, Avon, L’Oreal, but also by the “natural cosmetic giant brands” such as The Body Shop, Aveda, L’Occitane, Dr. Hauschka and few more who employ the very best cosmetic chemists they can get.

The offer must also have been noted by certifying organic bodies such as The Soil Association, EcoCert, Nature and more organizations so eager to certify cosmetic companies as long as these cosmetic companies pay a royalty of their worldwide sales to these organizations, making them rich and more powerful while they do nothing to add value to the quality of the products they certify.

In January this year the Royal Society of Chemistry wrote us and congratulated our company on the article we wrote about their deal.

Here is the deal to receive $1.5Million for anyone for free!!

In hopes to halt the hype and deceptive stories of several cosmetic companies, the Royal Society of Chemistry offers to pay US$1.5Million to anyone or any company wherever in the world that can show hard proof of a so called 100% natural cosmetic product. Show a cosmetic product that consists of only 100% natural ingredients to them and get all that money into your bank account. It is that very simple.

But maybe it is not that simple because nobody seems to be able to claim this $1.5 Million.

Maybe the Royal Society of Chemistry is no dummies after all. Maybe they show with this action to the world that there is no cosmetic scientist or no cosmetic brand in the world to truthfully say that their cosmetic products are “100%” natural as they know that always there is a need for some materials that are not resourced directly from nature in their products. The understanding of what is “natural” or “organic” versus what is a chemical cannot always be truly defined. Therefore, whatever brand, at whatever consumer price… cosmetics products always contain some chemicals despite claims of being “100% Natural” or “100% Certified Organic”.

Paul Penders natural herbal cosmetics that are made with the best natural ingredients that include many certified organic ingredients but do we make outrageous claims to be 100% natural? Or 100% Organic? Since it is impossible to be 100% natural or organic why do certain cosmetics companies still make these claims? And why would they not claim that pot of gold waiting for them for over 2 years already? Would it not be their best advertizing as well besides receiving $1.5Million for free?

Bravo to the Royal Society of Chemistry represented in Europe, USA and Asia consisting of 50,000 members. We at Paul Penders Company too will report immediately when a cosmetic company steps forwards to claim this huge amount of money! But I think we will have to wait, wait and wait.

There Must Be A Better Way – Part #1

As our products are sold to countries in Europe, Asia and US markets, obviously we get often mail from anywhere in the world with all kind of questions. I am always curious to know about people who take the effort to write a company located at the other end of the world.

I never do it myself and maybe because of that I am interested to know about these people who write us about what they feel so strongly about us and or our products. Much of the time I try to answer them myself. And most of the times I am correct that people who undertake the effort of writing us are special people.

Last month we received a letter of Nicky Jones from UK concerning the use of carmine. For the ones not familiar with carmine; it is a natural red natural color pigment that the FDA allows us to use in cosmetics without restrictions.

There are plenty of other ways to extract red colors from natural materials, such as flowers, but these are not always safe to be consumed (lipsticks are being consumed!) or there is a concern for allergic reactions. Carmine is the natural red colour pigment ingredient for lipsticks, and other makeup products, what we have been using for decades.

The concern some people have is that the colour is extracted from the wings of an insect while that insect in most cases dies an artificial death; being gassed. Especially vegetarians have an issue with that and I share their concern.

But since about 2 years we have a solution where we use certified organic red color instead of carmine and this color is now approved for cosmetics by the FDA. Of course we are very happy with this new colour ingredient compared to the insect-based ingredient that we were forced to use for so many years as there was no alternative.

The only “alternative” was using the petroleum-based chemical dies of what we have read terrible health reports over the years. It was told me not to use these chemical coal tar dyes as the concern for the health of our customers always have been our first priority.

Now with the new certified organic red-colour ingredient, we can serve ALL customers wanting truly natural herbal color cosmetics. Nobody needs to be afraid of hurting insects, or for those not wanting to use the extraction of an insect on their lips.

Letter of Nicky Jones

So I received a nice letter of Nicky Jones from UK with the issue of carmine at mind. She was really concerned about us using carmine for ethical reasons while in fact we have stopped using carmine already few years back. So were happy to assure her about this.

And in the case of Nicky who took the time and effort to write us, it was indeed another interesting surprise of who this person was, and I am so exciting to tell you more about her. Actually I can’t wait to share this next story with our readers in the next issue of our blog Part #2 of “There Must Be A Better Way”

Winter is calling

I am in Europe now and it always amazes me at this time of the year how trees turn so beautifully red and yellow. I love the experience of the unique wonderful smells of autumn that are in the air, with wind, at times quite strong, and nights where it starts to freeze. It is that great season I always miss when at Langkawi rainforest island in Malaysia.

Now I start thinking about winter skincare… what preparation I wish to advise to our customers in Northern Europe and Northern Asian countries. I also realize that in Australia they wait for spring to arrive! How interesting the world is in its simpleness, its consistency and its beauty.

Suddenly I realize that I am happy that we were able to finalize our new moisturizer created especially for dry winter weather. As a matter of fact, my thoughts go out to our people in the production area that are preparing for the very first production run of this new moisturizer: Dry Skin Relief. Day-dreaming in these stunning surroundings of the natural woods is like therapy for the soul.

So, since winter is coming, eventhough around the world climates vary, the problems our skin experiences are similar. In winter skin deals with a lot of harsh environments, cold air, indoor heaters, rain, snow and an overall lack of a good sunlight. We are left with dry skin that can become easily chapped and cracked.

Our skin’s goals this winter should be to moisturize, exfoliate and moisturize again.

With all below, keep moisture in mind with all the choices you make in your skin care regime.

Cleansing and Toning Rules….

Better use no cleansing gels, soaps or foam cleansers but cleansing milks are the very best right now. Put away astringents and use a toner ideally for winter. Skin needs to be soothed and balance; never dried out further by an astringent. Chamomile & Moringa Skin Toner is the perfect toner for all seasons and for all skin types, also during winter because of its very gentle and soothing effect on skin. Especially during winter season anyone will experience the best for their skin using this herbal toner made with 22 certified organic herbs.

Ahhh….Moisturize….

Choose heavier creams in the winter than you would in the summer months. Feel free to use Dry Skin Relief also on your lips besides the entire face. If your skin is itching it is because dry air of winter is causing the moisture in the top layer of your skin to evaporate quickly. You will need to slather those areas with extra moisture until you feel relief. Thus now it is the perfect time for our new Dry Skin Relief that is truly packed with rich emollients and various natural plant oils.

Yep… Exfoliate ….

And better twice per week! To remove dead skin cells allows skin to absorb the extra moisture you are lathering on. Have you ever wondered about the areas of your skin that looks like your skin is flaking off your body? What happens is that during the winter months there are thousands of dry skin cells ready to be sloughed off the surface and they become clumped together with oil which forms what appear to be flakes.

Thus, exfoliate your skin using Citrus Fruit Exfoliant or our new Active Renew Facial Scrub (coming out very soon). One superb thing to do during winter is a by-weekly treatment of ICT (Intensive Clarifying Therapy) and skin will look more radiant than ever… especially during the winter season!

Last but not least…

One of the best times in winter to apply Lavender Body Lotion is right after a hot bath or shower. The heat and steam from the shower allows skin to thoroughly absorb moisture. Using the above tips assures you, and your skin of a Happy Winter!!!!

Debbie in the Netherlands is one of the officials Test Judges of the Beauty Journal and tested 3 of Paul Penders natural herbal skincare products. Below is her report.

What 3 Paul Penders products did Debbie test?

Paul Penders Hydrating Control Serum

This serum surely feels comfortable on my face thanks to the almost creamy effect. I noticed that it easily spreads out and quickly absorbed into my skin. I decided to use only this serum before going to bed, once a day, because it is of such a firm consistence. Sometimes I use Aloe & Lavender A.M. Moisturizer for the day, but also sometimes I use Aloe & Lavender A.M. Moisturizer for the night as well because I do not like to apply two “thick” layers of skincare on my face.

I noticed every time when I woke up that my skin looked more radiant and smooth. In fact my skin looked very healthy and seemed even firmer than before. The smell of the product is ‘herbalish’ and honestly, I had to get used to it although that particular herbal scent disappears after a couple of minutes.

Paul Penders Aloe & Lavender A.M. Moisturizer

This day care product is of a light composition and gets easily absorbed into the skin. It spreads out wonderfully and I can feel that is soothes my skin. Immediately after application my face feels well moisturized and therefore really soft. It gives my face the comparative matte taint that I like so much. The scent is very fresh and certainly not overwhelming. It’s actually a very nice smell and the texture of the product turns this day care into the perfect product for the typical summer weather conditions in The Netherlands!

Paul Penders Avocado & Cranberry P.M. Moisturizer

This night moisturizer is of a perfect creamy substance and it feels great on my skin. It’s slightly thicker than the day care moisturizer but still quickly absorbed into my skin. It doesn’t feel oily and that’s a great advantage compared to some other organic night creams I’ve been testing before!

This time I really feel that I am giving my skin a little extra for the night and I am actually looking forward to every new evening when I can use the personal night cream that I have now adopted to love…

This Avocado & Cranberry PM Moisturizer also has the specific Paul Penders herbal like scent but… meanwhile I have grown into loving it!!! Because of this herbal smell I am starting to think that it might just really do the work for my skin. This scent helps me to keep close to nature and makes me realize that this is just what we have forgotten. Staying close to Mother Nature for she provides in life all we need.

My conclusion about Paul Penders Cosmetics:
Using all these 3 products result in a healthier looking skin and makes me really happy to look into the mirror. My skin looks well nourished and firmer. I do not expect my lines to disappear or even become less because the most important thing for me is radiant skin and a healthy glow. The paradox of this conclusion is that at first I was afraid to write this positive review because one could not possibly be so enthusiastic about Paul’s products. My test results seem exaggerated but then, I am truly THAT enthusiastic! Surely there must be a minor….

Well there could be two little minors of Paul’s products:

  • They smell like herbal garden in summer and that is a matter of taste.
  • The packaging is simple and beautiful but not significant. The consumer might not be easily drawn towards the packaging and that would be a shame! Because Paul Penders products really deserve your full attention!

Last but not least….:
I’ve fallen in love with Paul Penders natural herbal cosmetics. The 3 products I tried feel like trying more of Paul’s products. In addition I have also fallen in love with the mission, the vision and the passion of the Paul Penders Company.

Cruelty free organic cosmetics will give the same results as non-organic, chemical cosmetics. Life’s responsibilities; hold on to your principles… “Just do your thing and go for it”!

Debbie, 41 who loves natural cosmetics

A couple of weeks ago, I received 3 Paul Penders natural skincare products.
I never had heard about these products but as I saw them, I did feel kind of excited. LevensESSENTIE is printed on the entire product and that is a Dutch word. So our offices being in The Netherlands, I realized that this must have something to do with Holland as well.

I was surprised by the simple but beautiful designed boxes and carefully opened the packages. “Who is Paul Penders I was thinking? So I decided to do a research on the Paul Penders Company and I was truly amazed what I found out.

Once he was the owner of beauty salons in Holland and decided to develop his own natural herbal cosmetics. His company had moved from Holland to Ireland, then to America, and finally ending up on a small rainforest island in beautiful Malaysia!

Not long ago an interview about Paul’s turbulent life was held with Monique Lindeboom, President of the Beauty Journal website what you can see read here at http://www.beautyjournaal.nl/2011/04/monique-schrijft-de-missie-van-paul-penders/.
The bottom line of Paul’s product story is here:

What are Paul Penders most important ingredients in his products?
I soon discovered that Paul Penders uses a mixture of 22 ancient “western and eastern” certified organic herbs which is called LevensESSENTIE Gold ®, made in a concentrated extract and with coconut water and enzymes added.

Paul Penders uses a cold-blended manufacturing process with gentle emulsifying ingredients used under low temperatures that results into a more powerful effect on your skin since the key natural ingredients are not weakened or destroyed by the heat process normally used in the cosmetic manufacturing.

In part 2 we will show you the extensive report about the 3 products testing. But here is already the overall conclusion from Debbie about Paul Penders Cosmetics:
