Cosmetic Trends for the Next Five Years

Last December, Nick Morante asked formulators of some 200 leading cosmetic brands where they believe the cosmetic industry is heading for the next 5 years. Here is what they said:

  • Natural ingredients will have a large impact.
  • Demand in developing countries will grow.
  • China, India, Asia and the Middle East come into prominence.
  • Growing consumer awareness, with more consumers reading ingredient labels and try to understand what is in their product. Consumers are researching ingredients. They communicate about it over the internet.
  • Advances in technology do not rate high with formulators. They may feel that not many new developments will appear over the next years.
  • Men’s cosmetics will not have much impact
  • Suncare and spa products will have some more importance.

In conclusion:

  • Natural ingredients, developing countries and consumer awareness are key indicators for growth of the cosmetics industry over the next 5 years.
  • Technology, demographics and men’s cosmetics will play a small role in the industry’s growth over the next 5 years.

7th International Halal Showcase 23-27 june 2010

No less than 32 countries participated in the 7th International Halal Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this month. This show was different than before because not only newest halal products were showed but also aspects of technology and regulations were needed to be clarified. Product categories at the show were various natural cosmetics, supplements
and specialty food products.

The mission to go to this show was to get information about the latest news from the halal industry. Dr. Gatot, Senior Cosmetic Chemist and head of Paul Penders R&D team, together with Hasnah from R&D as well attended discussions about newest halal regulations and quality control of halal products.

By attending the exhibition, it was confirmed too that Paul Penders Company is at the right track here since we are penetrating the Middle East market with our products All Paul Penders products are certified halal by the government of Malaysia. Although officially Paul Penders Co does not involve itself in any religious matters, we believe that halal formulations make for better products because no animal ingredients nor animal by-products, or alcohol in any form are allowed. In addition, all Paul Penders products are kosher formulated as well.

We believe that these specific regulations are for the better of mankind. For that reason we embrace the further development of halal regulations and apply them accordingly and improve our products in best ways possible.
