As we all know, there is a global outbreak ofÂ influenza A virus subtype H1N1 since April 2009, commonly called “Swine Flu”. According to Dr. Palaniappan’s 33 years of research, he stated that high acidity in the body could result in the loss of immunity, hence making people more vulnerable to viral diseases like Influenza A (H1N1).
In order to prevent H1N1, Dr. Palaniappan recommends to consume alkaline food and beverages that can help neutralize the excessive acidity in the body.
He suggests coconut water, which is alkaline and it can be used as a herbal medicine to prevent H1N1. For example, he advised those who felt feverish and experienced a burning sensation while urinating because of excessive acid in the body, to neutralize it by drinking coconut water, twice a day, for three days.
Besides watching your diet, physical exercises should also be taken into account. He said that too much physical activity such as marathon should be avoided because it released acid due to excessive metabolic activity.
In addition, he also stressed that insufficient sleep and overwork without adequate rest could also increase the body acidity, which consequently decreased immunity and made the body susceptible to viral attacks.
